Film director Lan Bo’s documentary ‘Wuhan, I am here” reveals about the volunteers who helped the neighbours to get food and medical care in the sealed city of Wuhan .Complete isolation of 13 million people in Wuhan was subject to life and death of millions. The painful reality of Wuhan where the homeless, the sick and the elderly people who were neglected by the government system has been revealed in Bo’s chronicle.
Lan Bo hopes to portray the lives of the volunteers who helped people during the lockdown following the COVID-19 pandemic in the 2020.
The film begins with a woman crying to admit her husband for his lung cancer treatment .Somehow, the volunteers secured him a bed at the Beijing Hospital. The film also portrays the other families who struggled to get their children or other family members to get the treatment. Moreover, China’s zero tolerance policy was aimed to forcefully find and isolate an infected person.
Lan says ,”At that time, medical resources focused on COVID-19 patients so it wasn’t their turn to be treated .”
The documentary has been released at a time when China has re-imposed similar lockdowns in a few cities since December.
