We understand service outages or breakage are pretty common. But when an outage ends up concerning a massive user base, it becomes worth highlighting. Something similar is happening with WazirX: Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency Exchange in India as of writing this.

For past some time, a proliferation of reports saying WazirX is down, not working and showcasing a message stating “unknown error occurred” on accessing are populating the online discussion platform Twitter. Take a look at what some of the complainants have to say:

While reports continue to snowball, a few hours back the official Twitter handle for WazirX acknowledged an issue stating:

But there is yet to come any recent development on the matter.

Update 1 (May 07)

WazirX has now given a word on why UPI is not working. Here’s what they have to say:

It’s because our current banking partner has removed UPI option. Any pending UPI deposits will get reverted to your bank account within 5 business days.

We’re talking to more banking partners and working hard to bring back UPI soon.

Update 2 (May 08)

If you’re struggling with delays in IMPS/NEFT/RTGS deposits, please be informed it’s a known issue.

Due to a network issue at our banking partner’s end, some of you might get error while depositing INR. We’re working with them to solve this ASAP.

Update 3 (May 20)

WazirX app and website have been down for hours now. While the issue was acknowledged by support hours back and there is yet to come a solution. Here’s what support on Twitter said:

Update 4 (August 02)

There have been several complaints from users about WazirX UPI not working and the payment service has now taken to Twitter saying that UPI is under maintenance and the tech team is working on it.

Update 5 (September 02)

A section of WarizX users is noting that the UPI deposit function is not working. In response to these complaints, the service is acknowledging that the UPI deposit option is currently under maintenance.

Meanwhile, users are advised to deposit via Netbanking, Mobikwik, or P2P.

Update 6 (September 08)

It seems that WazirX users can’t catch a break with the app as the UPI deposits have been temporarily paused according to an official announcement.

This comes as a big disappointment to most users since the market has been down and it’s a good time to buy up Crypto. Here’s the official statement.

We’re working with our payment partner to make INR deposits via UPI live as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we request you to use other payment options: MobiKwik and P2P, for INR deposits.

Update 7 (October 27)

WazirX users are once again stranded because the app has stopped working. Many have taken to Twitter to report the same.

Fortunately, the company has confirmed that they are aware of the issue and are currently investigating.

WazirX posted a tweet earlier confirming that they’ve fixed delays in the app and on the website.

Update 9 (October 29)

Wazir X has suspended the USDT withdrawal function. This is causing inconvenience for many.

WazirX has clarified that the USDT transfer function has been suspended temporarily and they are working on a fix.

Update 10 (November 24)

IST 11:25 am: WazirX users have been experiencing issues and delays over the past few hours, an issue that has already been acknowledged.

Now, the company has come out to report that the issue has now been fixed.

Update 11 (November 30)

IST 06:08 pm: As usual, crypto prices have shot up again and WazirX app users are once again having to deal with various issues, including the chart disappearing. The company’s support team claims that they’re working to address the problem.
