Here’s the crux of the article in video form:
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on July 7, 2022) follows:
Launched in 2015, Discord is the go-to place for gamers. Valued at $15 billion last year, the majority of the revenue is generated from the Nitro subscription service.
And while Discord seems to be growing at a rapid pace, users face bugs and glitches every now and then that negatively impact their overall experience.
That said, many have complained about the ‘About Me’ page tab not working and not being able to change overlay settings.
And as if the aforementioned problems weren’t troubling enough, many Discord users on iOS are now reporting that the app is crashing when clicking on or viewing profiles.
This is really annoying since users are unable to view or even click on their friends’ profiles. Some tried restarting and reinstalling the app hoping the problem will be resolved but to no avail.
Below are a couple of reports from Discord users for whom the iOS app is crashing when clicking on or viewing profiles.
Unfortunately, Discord developers are yet to officially acknowledge the issue. However, those affected can try updating the app since it is reportedly fixing the problem for some.
It looks like the problem allegedly surfaced after Discord added a new feature where users can see other people’s phone number on their profile, causing those running an older version to crash when viewing profiles.
Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space as and when we come across further developments so make sure you stay tuned.
Update 1 (July 8, 2022)
03:37 pm (IST): Discord support on Twitter has confirmed that the crashing issue on iOS has now been resolved.
Update 2 (December 06, 2022)
03:32 pm (IST): Older iOS device owners are facing a hard time when trying to use Discord as a recent update (1, 2, 3, 4) is causing a constant app crashing issue on iOS 12 (1, 2, 3, 4).
The Discord team is already aware of the bug and working on a fix, but there is no ETA yet.
Update 3 (December 07, 2022)
12:46 pm (IST): In a recent response, Discord support said that this is still an issue that they are working to fix. However, there’s still no ETA for the same.
Update 4 (December 08, 2022)
03:47 pm (IST): Discord iOS app got a new update a couple of days ago (on December 6). Sadly, this update did not bring a fix for the crashing issue on iOS 12 devices (1, 2, 3).
