Rana Daggubati, a Telugu actor who gained national notoriety after playing the villain in ‘Baahubali,’ has been named the face of a new WWE promotion that will be shown in Tamil, Telugu, and English.
WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment, is the world’s largest television provider of professional wrestling, led by bodybuilder-wrestler-showman-TV mogul Vince McMahon. International celebrity wrestlers such as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and John Cena were raised there.
Daggubati appeared for the new WWE campaign, which will run on Sony Ten 4, at a recent shoot at the Railway Sports Complex in Secunderabad. In fact, the actor was the face of the Sony Ten 4 channels when they first debuted.
In Tamil and Telugu, the channel broadcasts sports programs such as pro wrestling and mixed martial arts (MMA).
Daggubati was photographed wearing a WWE championship title and engaging with a bunch of children on the set of the campaign shot. He also did stunts with ropes and posed on a Harley Davidson. The shoot’s photos have since gone viral.
“I can tell that it will strike a chord with our native audience,” the actor remarked of the campaign. “WWE is one of the most viewed assets on sports networks in India and has a significant fanbase in Tamil and Telugu-speaking areas,” a Sony Sports spokesman stated.
Rana’s passion for sports and the WWE is well-known in the public eye. As a result, Rana Daggubati is an excellent choice to lead the campaign.”
Daggubati will star alongside Sai Pallavi and Priyamani in the upcoming Telugu film ‘Virata Parvam,’ which is based on the Telangana Naxalite movement.
