New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story from (June 5, 2018) follows:
We’re seeing a very large number of reports about the Instagram app crashing on Android phones. From Google Pixel users to those with Samsung, Huawei, or a OnePlus are all reporting the problem.
Instagram is reportedly aware of the issue. Someone who reached out to Google got to hear the following from their customer support:
One workaround that seems to have did the trick for many users is uninstalling and re-installing the app from the Play Store. The other one involves force stopping the app and clearing the app cache. You can try these out until Instagram comes up with an official fix. Some users even say the beta version of the app works fine.
Given the app’s popularity, there’s a flood of complaints on Twitter. Over on Reddit, there are already multiple threads with hundreds of reports about the problem.
We’ll update the story as and when any news-worthy development takes place. Until then, let us know in comments below whether or not the workarounds we described here worked for you.

At present, the only potential workaround might be to download and install an older APK file for Instagram.
Update 6 (September 23, 2022)
09:35 am (IST): Over the past few hours, many Instagram users have been reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) that the app is randomly crashing for them.
Unfortunately, Instagram support hasn’t yet acknowledged this bug.
Update 7 (October 04, 2022)

10:05 am (IST): According to our own observations, Instagram does not crash on iOS when using via a web browser.
So as a workaround, you can sign into Instagram on Safari or any other browser and use it until the crashing issue gets fixed.
Update 14 (November 01, 2022)
10:21 am (IST): Instagram has received a new update on iOS with v259.0. So users can now install it and see if the crashing issue is fixed.
Update 15 (November 02, 2022)
03:57 pm (IST): Since the last app update (check update 14), there have been no new reports related to the Instagram crashing issue on iOS. So, probably the update fixed the problem.
