According to a Disney announcement made on Friday at CinemaCon, two planned Marvel Cinematic Universe films will be rescheduled. The Marvels, a Captain Marvel sequel, will be released on the same day as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
With a new release date of Feb. 17, 2023, the new Ant-Man picture will arrive earlier. Quantumania pits the teen hero against Kang the Conqueror, who could be the MCU’s next Thanos-style menace. Meanwhile, The Marvels, which is a prequel to both Captain Marvel and the Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel, will be released on July 28, 2023.

Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Jonathan Majors, and Kathryn Newton star in the third Ant-Man film, which is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Jonathan Majors, and Kathryn Newton. Ant-Man and the Wasp have grossed a total of $1.14 billion worldwide, with almost $397 million coming from the United States.
While Marvel movies are prone to delays and schedule changes, it’s unusual for two films to swap release dates outright. The Marvels will most likely require more time in the oven, although Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania appears to be further along.
These two films will be released following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love & Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which are all scheduled to be released in the second half of 2022. The release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still set for May 5, 2023.
