The Playlist, slated for debut in October 2022 by Netflix, will portray the unseen tale of another streaming powerhouse. It is a limited-edition drama series from Sweden about Spotify, popular music streaming service today.

Netflix’s The Playlist has 6 episodes, all of which are directed by Per-Olav Sørensen (Home for Christmas), with Christian Spurrier serving as the show’s primary screenwriter.

The Young Wallander series on Netflix is produced by Yellowbird, and the Banijay Group is in charge of the production.

The project was initially disclosed in December 2019, when Netflix made the following comment:

“The founding tale of Spotify is a great example of how a local story can have a global impact. Not only is this a story about the way all our lives have changed in the last decade, but it’s also about the battle for cultural and financial influence in a globalized, digitized world.”

Plot

The Playlist on Netflix is an adaption of Spotify Untold, a book about the growth of Spotify written by Swedish investigative tech bloggers Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud.

The Playlist will include 6 one-hour episodes, it has recently announced.

Netflix has not yet officially announced the launch date for The Playlist, but the sources indicate that the streaming service plans to do so on October 13, 2022.
