The cast will spend 11 days in Zagreb filming season 2 of the Hotel Portofino television show. According to the Croatian Audiovisual Center, a few of the venues are Narodni dom, the Croatian Institute of History in Gornji Grad, as well as the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Trg Republike Hrvatska.

“My experience with the Croatian crew has been incredibly positive. I am often in foreign countries and I like working with local people. The Croatian film crew is incredibly accommodating and ready to cooperate, and the entire filming process in Croatia is very creative. Set designer Ivan Veljača is phenomenal, his designs are enchanting. The locations found for us by location manager Tomislav Peleski are exactly what we needed,” said series producer Sarah Forbes Campbell on set in Zagreb.

Shooting would also take place in other Croatian locations, such as Lovran, where the property that symbolizes Hotel Portofino is located. The production is being handled by the London-based Eagle Eye Drama. Other locales include Matulje, Gronjan, and Belaj, and Rijeka will also be used for filming.

Ivan Veljaa, a set designer, and Luka Musta, an audio recordist, stand out as significant writers among the 135 Croatian film employees working on the Croatian production, and 13 of the 14 sector managers are also from Croatia. In Croatia, about 800 local extras are working on the production.

Ivona Maras directed the movie, and the production is being assisted by the Drugi plan service production, which is run by Neboj Tarab and Miodrag Sil.

A traditional whodunit mystery builds to a dramatic climax in the family drama Hotel Portofino, which is brimming with emotional ups and downs. The Matt Baker-written series, which also features darker, more somber tales set against the historical backdrop of the advent of fascism in Mussolini’s Italy, honors the long-standing literary tradition of humorous British “innocents abroad.”

In a stunning Italian setting, Hotel Portofino delivers a heady concoction of subplots that embrace themes of sexual and social emancipation.

Director Adam Wimpenny is responsible for all of the show’s episodes. Season 2 also features Mark Umbers, Oliver Dench, Louisa Binder, Claude Scott-Mitchell, Carolina Gonnelli, Lily Frazer, as well as many other actors, including Natascha McElhone, best known for her part as Karen Van Der Beek in the television series Californication.

In 2021, Croatia served as the location for the initial season of the television show. 192 Croatian film crew members were working on the set at the time. The film crew then spent 61 days filming in Croatia, with the locales being Bale, Rovinj, Matulji, Opatija/Lovran, Pula, and Rijeka.

The Croatian Audiovisual Center, which runs the State Support Program for Encouraging Investments in the Production of Audiovisual Works, has produced both seasons of the show in Croatia.

One of the most popular original shows, Hotel Portofino, had its debut on the streaming platform BritBox. The series was broadcast, among other places, on North American public television PBS.
