After the iconic Chris Rock slap at the Oscars, Will Smith is now “in a better space” and “apologetic,” according to Kevin Hart.

Hart, a friend of both actors, urged supporters to give Smith “the chance to grow.”

Will is sorry, as you may know, and he’s obviously in a better place than he was hoping for “Hart said while promoting his most recent movie, DC League of Super-Pets, to Entertainment Tonight.

We all make mistakes periodically since we are only human. This implies that moving forward requires acknowledging the present and avoiding thinking about the past.

When presenting an award at the Oscars ceremony in March, Rock made a joke about the actress Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.

In what has been called the most startling Oscars moment ever, Smith came on stage, smacked Rock in the face, then ran back to his chair in the crowd and yelled obscenities at Rock.

After posting an Instagram apology, Smith, who later won the Best Actor Oscar that night, has kept quiet about the event.

However, he was forced to resign from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which oversees the Oscars, and was given a 10-year attendance ban.

Following the slap, many of Smith’s cinematic projects have also been placed on pause.

Rock has also been silent about the incident, simply stating that he is “still digesting” it at one of his stand-up performances a few days after the Oscars.

I can only hope that they are able to put it behind them and find solace for the two of them in that. I continue to love Chris and [Will], and you know, you can’t judge a person by just one incident. Give him the chance to grow because, in the end, life moves on and people do,” Hart stated in his interview.

Both Hart and Smith were born in Philadelphia, and Hart has frequently praised Smith for opening doors for him in the entertainment industry.

Old comic pals Hart and Rock are getting ready to go on their first US stand-up tour together. The tour, titled Rock Hart: Only Headliners Allowed, kicks off on July 21 in New York.
