The 43-year-old host, who began presenting the CBS show in 2015, will go in the summer of 2023, but he plans to ‘go out with a bang’ in the coming year.

They are all motivated to make 2017 the best year they have ever had doing this show,’ he stated, getting emotional as he opened up on the news on the newest episode of his show. They are going out on a high note.

Carpools, crosswalks, doodles, and other surprises are on the way… There will also be tears. There will be a lot of crying. Because this has been the most difficult decision he ever had to take.

‘I’ve never taken this job for granted. Ever. Not once. And … the fact that you watch us at home. Or you watch us online. Wherever you are, all over the world’, he added.

‘The fact that we get to try and entertain you and spend time with you is an absolute privilege for me and every single person who makes this show.’

Corden’s contract with CBS to host the show for another year has been extended, and he admits it’s been a life-changing experience.

‘Seven and half years ago I started hosting this show and there’s no other way to put it, it has changed my life,” he added. ‘I love it, I love all the people that work here, I am so proud of what we’ve achieved, it’s been beyond my wildest, wildest dreams.

The show, which contains a slew of famous guests and special segments, has been a huge hit for Corden.

Adele, Billie Eilish, Sir Paul McCartney, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have all been on his popular Carpool Karaoke series, in which he drives to work with different singers, singing their back catalogue over the radio and reviewing their careers.

Corden took over as host of The Late Late Show in 2015, succeeding Scottish-born comedian Craig Ferguson, who had served as host for ten years, and his debut program featured Hollywood icon Tom Hanks as a special guest in March of that year.
