According to a story by the New York Times, Apple has destroyed a forthcoming Apple TV Plus show about Gawker, a now-defunct news agency. The film, named Scraper, can be added to the catalog of reports about Apple destroying ventures that are too delicate or edgy for the business to touch things. He allegedly sent an email saying he was shocked to hear about it when Tim Cook found out that Apple was working on the show. He also stated that Gawker hated him. Even though Apple has agreed to destroy the series, the show is back in the market, where it could be purchased and funded by another distributor. This is not the first time Apple management has jumped up to direct the dispute away from their TV service. Apple allegedly destroyed a Dr. Dre movie in 2018 for getting free violence and sex, and Apple executive Eddy Cue allegedly said the service would never do two things: “hardcore nudity and China.” Buzzfeed has confirmed that Apple instructed the showrunners to stop negatively depicting China. Layne Eskridge, the executive who acquired the show, is leaving the firm. As Tim Cook personally understood, Gawker was inherently divisive. He was outed as gay by Gawker in 2008. There were several bloggers in the Gawker Media Group; Gizmodo uncovered and leaked the iPhone 4 in 2010 before it was released. As a show, Gawker is enticing simply because the blog has such a mixed legacy. Bill Cosby, who was later accused of aggravated sexual assault, was one of the media outlets who renewed interest. It also commented on Louis CK and Harvey Weinstein’s rumored wrongdoing. Max Read and Cord Jefferson, Gawker alums, are attached to the show. For Watchmen, The Good Spot, and Master of None, Jefferson has also written. Gawker, it appears, was born to bring controversy, even four years after his death, to everything it reached.
