1) To create or open an existing MS Excel workbook, you can use the following shortcuts rather than going to the File Menu.

Ctrl+N: Create a new workbook

Ctrl+O: Open an existing workbook

2) Saving a workbook cannot be easier than using the following shortcuts.

Ctrl+S: Save a workbook

F12: Open the Save As dialog box

3) As soon as you close a workbook, you will get a dialog box to choose to save or discard the workbook.

Ctrl+W: Close a workbook

Ctrl+F4: Close Excel

  1. F4: It’s the shortcut to repeat the last command. For instance, if the last action you did was to type in a cell, clicking another cell and pressing F4 repeats that action in the new cell.

  2. Shift+F11: This keyboard shortcut allows you to insert a new worksheet within the same workbook.

6) The Undo and Redo shortcuts give you flexibility while correcting errors done on your part.

Ctrl+Z: Undo an action

Ctrl+Y: Redo an action

  1. Ctrl+F2: By this shortcut, you can switch to the Print Preview

  2. F1: This keyboard shortcut will open the Help pane to know about the features and how to use them in your workbook.

  3. Alt+Q: It will take you to the “Tell me what you want to do” where you can search for a feature you want to use but can’t locate.

  4. F7: By this shortcut, you can check the spelling by comparing it with the suggestions

  5. F9: This keyboard shortcut allows you to calculate all worksheets in all open workbooks.

Shift+F9: By this, you can calculate only in the active worksheets.

  1. Alt or F10: Utilizing this shortcut, you can simply turn the tips on or off.

  2. Ctrl+F1: Using this keyboard shortcut, you can show or hide the ribbon

  3. Ctrl+Shift+U: You can expand or collapse the formula bar

  4. F11: It enables you to make a bar chart on the selected data in a separate sheet.

Alt+F1: By this, you can make an embedded bar chart on select data in the same sheet.
